SCHOLARSHIPS, STIPENDS, GRANTS & MORE

Beta Alpha is a chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, DKG, an International Society of Key Women Educators.  As Leading Women Educators Impacting Education Worldwide, we are constantly striving to better ourselves through continuing education.  

DKG encourages members to continue their learning by awarding financial assistance at the State and International levels.  Membership in Beta Alpha of DKG entitles eligibility to apply for a variety of Scholarships, Stipends, Grants and more!  Membership also offers the privilege to nominate non members to apply for financial assistance to further their education.  

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DEGREE PROGRAMS / UNIVERSITY CREDIT

The International Scholarship Fund (ISF)

As many as 30 scholarships are awarded each year to DKG members pursuing advance degrees.  For those seeking a doctorate, scholarships are $10,000.  For those seeking other graduate studies, scholarships are $6,000. To qualify for ISF, applicants must be an active member of DKG.  Three years of active membership at the time of application are required for those pursuing doctoral studies, while one year of active membership is the requirement for those pursuing other graduate studies.  For more detailed information, view the International Scholarship Fund Flyer.  The ISF application is due February 1, 2020.

DKG Illinois State Scholarship

DKG Illinois offers scholarship opportunities to members with at least three years of active membership who are pursuing studies at an accredited college or university.  The number and amounts of scholarships are based upon the availability of funds in the scholarship program each year.  For more detailed information, view the State Scholarship Brochure.  The DKG Illinois State Scholarship Application is due January 9, 2020.

DKG Illinois Florence A. Cook Grant

Members of Beta Alpha of DKG have the privilege of nominating non - members for scholarship opportunities.  The Educational Excellence Committee of DKG Illinois offers the DKG Illinois Florence A. Cook Recruitment Grant for female Illinois residents who have been accepted into certified teacher programs at accredited colleges or universities.  One grant in an equal amount is awarded to an applicant in each of the six DKG Chapter Areas in Illinois.  The Florence A. Cook Recruitment Grant Application is due February 1, 2020.   

DKG Illinois Grant In Aid

The DKG Illinois Grant in Aid offers the opportunity for Beta Alpha members to nominate female non - members to apply for assistance to study in any field at a college or University in Illinois.  Each year, Beta Alpha may nominate one applicant for this grant.  The DKG Illinois Grant in Aid Application is due February 1, 2020. 

DKG Illinois M. Josephine O'Neil Arts Award

The DKG Illinois M Josephine O'Neil Arts Award offers Beta Alpha members the opportunity to encourage local women to pursue University studies in theatre, dance, music and the visual arts.  In odd numbered years, Beta Alpha may nominate one applicant to apply for this award.

Lucile Cornetet Award For Individual Professional Development

Cornetet Individual Awards for Professional Development (CIPD) are available to all employed educators who meet the stated criteria. The application process is competitive.  Awards fund participation in conferences, seminars, lecture series, National certification, online courses, workshops and other non-degree programs.  Awards may fund travel, lodging, meals, pay for substitutes, registration fees, etc.  To view a sample listing of past CIPD recipients, click here.  For professional development scheduled from October 15 - May 15, apply by September 1, 2019.  For professional development scheduled from March 15 - October 15, apply by February 1, 2020.  For professional development scheduled from June 15 - February 15, apply by May 1,2020.  Beta Alpha encourages members to take advantage of member benefits and begin work now on your CIPD Application.

Lucile Cornetet Award For Seminar Professional Development

Cornetet Awards for Seminar Professional Development (CSPD)  are granted to sponsor professional development seminars. Regions, areas, and state organizations of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International may apply for a Seminar Award to assist in providing professional development opportunities for educators in their locale.  To view a sample listing of past CSPD recipients, click here.  The CSPD Application is due by November 1, 2019.  Beta Alpha members who have ideas for Seminar Professional Development should speak with their chapter or state president.

DKG Illinois Special Study Stipend

DKG Illinois Foundation for Educational Studies invites both active and retired educators with a minimum of three years of membership to apply for a Special Study Stipend.  Special Study Stipends are to be used to fund attendance to programs which promote both professional and personal growth.  For more detailed information, view the Special Study Stipend Brochure.  January 9, 2020 is the deadline for submitting the Special Study Stipend Application.

DKG Educational Foundation Project Grants

The Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Foundation supports and encourages intercultural understanding and educational excellence.   The Foundation awards a maximum of $10,000 for the implementation of projects which fulfill one or more of the following Society Purposes:  to support and encourage intercultural understanding; to encourage standards of excellence in education; to assist and cooperate with schools, colleges, universities and other persons, organizations, trust funds or foundations in support, encouragement, and improvement of education;  Submit the DKG Educational Foundation Project Application by January 3, 2020 for funding of projects to be implemented between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020.  Generous donations from DKG chapters, members and friends make these project grants possible.  To contribute to DKG's collective effort to fund important projects, donate today!

DKG Illinois Foundation For Educational Studies Stipend

The DKG Illinois Foundation awards funds for members to assist educational research, to develop special projects related to the improvement of  education in Illinois and to aid in the publication of the results of such research and special projects.  To view samples of past funded projects, click here.  Deadlines for the DKG Illinois Foundation For Educational Studies Stipend Application are November 1, 2019 and May 1, 2020.  The Foundation needs a minimum of eight weeks to process proposals. DKG ART AND HUMANITIES GALLERY

DKG offers members the opportunity to display works of art in an online gallery.  Beta Alpha encourages all to visit the DKG Fine Arts Gallery.  Members interested in submitting should become familiar with DKG Arts and Humanities Submission Guidelines.  Deadline for Art Galery Submissions is September 5, 2019.

DKG PUBLICATIONS

DKG NEWS is published six times a year.  The Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin is published five times a year. The latter is published in two formats: three times per year as a scholarly journal subtitled International Journal for Professional Educators; and two times per year as a collegial magazine subtitled Collegial Exchange. In addition, the Society also publishes other documents that are vital to the organization, including the Presidents' Page, which is sent to chapter and state organization presidents six times a year.  Members wishing to be published in The Bulletin are encouraged to read The Bulletin Submission Guidelines.  Articles should be submitted for review via email by the following four deadlines:  October 1, 2019; December 15, 2019; March 1, 2020; May 15, 2020;
